Sapphire is a mental stone, once sacred to Saturn and linked to magic and the heavens.

There is a particular Sapphire called “Stellato” which, due to the presence of rutile needles inside, presents the phenomenon known as “asterism”, which is highlighted by a cabochon cut. Basically, when hit by direct light, a star is formed at its centre, which appears mobile as the incidence of light changes on the curved surface.

This quality is highly sought after and is called the “Stone of Destiny”: its “good star” will guide its owner along the path of his life.
